Andover High School Counseling Department
SENIORS- College Reps are
coming to AHS for their fall visits!
Many of these visits are set up during the lunch break - so keep
this in mind if you have open lunch.
You might want to stay that day to visit with a college
rep!
Upcoming College/Military Rep Visits
Lunch
visits (11:30 -1:00)
Check back later!!
For the "Sign ups", Darla
Steinert, our Registrar sets up a special time slot (usually during
advisory time) and they require you to sign up in the counselor's
office for these visits. Then on the day before or day of the
admissions rep visit you will receive a pass from the Registrar to
be released to the meeting. Seniors who do not have a second hour
or advisory--- pay attention to the dates and times if you want to
sign up to see the rep so you make sure you are in the
building!
SIGN UP REQUIRED:
SENIORS: Scholarship Awards-- as you receive notification that you have received a scholarship (academic and/or athletic) from the college you will be attending please bring in the letter to the Registrar, Darla Steinert.
Attention SENIOR
ATHLETES! If you
are planning on registering with the NCAA clearinghouse this year
you need to come by and talk to the counselors. There are new
regulations for high school students wishing to play Division I
or Division II athletics going into effect this year.
More important information for Seniors....
SENIORS/ Senior Parents planning college visits and looking for scholarships- the board outside the counselor office is beginning to fill up with many applications for college scholarships, technical colleges and senior days on college campuses. Students and parents are encouraged to stop by the board and pick the applications that fit your needs and/or interests. Seniors are encouraged to talk with Mrs. Coffman about their college plans and their needs.
MAILING OF YOUR SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION: Remember, many of the scholarships have "receive by" or "must be postmarked by" deadlines and often require a counselor's or teacher recommendation, PLUS an official transcript. Waiting until the day before an application is due or worse yet, the day it needs to be postmarked is a sure guarantee your packet will not make it to its destination. Please do your part to plan ahead!
TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS: Students who need transcripts sent to colleges need to see Darla Steinert, our Registrar to complete the request form. Please allow 5 processing days.
SENIORS PLANNING A COLLEGE VISIT- You need to see Debbie Bollig in the front office to request a college visit form. It is important to obtain this form one week before you take your college visit. And even more important, the form must be returned to AHS, signed by the college representative you visited to ensure your absence from school is excused. Students are responsible for work missed and should touch base with their teachers BEFORE they go on their college visit.
